Synthesia pricing: monthly vs annual plans and shared credits
Choose by billable usage and required features. A minute allowance is a video-only use of shared credits, not a second balance you receive alongside them.

What the credits buy
Standard video costs two credits per second, or 120 per minute. That makes monthly Basic and Starter balances sufficient for up to 10 minutes; Creator allows up to 30. Dubbing and other metered features draw from the same pool at their own rates.
Our calculation: $29 divided by 10 is $2.90 per included video minute; $89 divided by 30 is about $2.97. These are allowance ratios, not measured costs of finished videos. If you use only five minutes on Starter, the subscription cost divided by your actual output is $5.80/minute before other expenses.
Revisions do not always bill the whole video again
Synthesia documents change-specific billing: added or replaced words consume credits for their new duration; deleting words, reordering existing words and changing punctuation do not. Replacing an avatar can charge for its visible duration. Do not apply ElevenLabs' changed-text billing rule to this product.
For planning, two three-minute first renders use 720 credits. If a subsequent revision introduces 30 billable seconds total, add 60 credits: 780 overall. This is a calculated example from the published rate, not a hands-on measurement. Check the actual credit deduction when you test your editing workflow.
Which plan makes sense?
Starter includes downloads, logo removal, one editor and three guests. Creator adds API access, interactive videos and five guests. SCORM and SSO are listed for Enterprise.
Use the free tier to evaluate your script, voice and editor. Choose a paid tier only after identifying a feature or usage constraint. For annual billing, compare the upfront commitment with your likely usage across the year; a lower monthly equivalent is not a monthly cancellation arrangement.
Annual pricing is unresolved: the official cards show $18/month for Starter and $64/month for Creator, while the same page's FAQ lists $264/year and $804/year. We cannot establish the payable total from this conflicting page. Check the dated checkout offer before comparing savings or committing.
What happens at the limit?
The pricing FAQ says usage stops until renewal unless you upgrade, and unused credits do not roll into the next billing period. Do not budget for unspecified top-ups.
